It's been almost four years since my last full-band album. A lot has changed in four years.

Old school Hello Whirled fans will remember that, from 2015 to 2017, I had a band called Naked Ant. We kinda sucked, but also kinda didn't. We made three albums in a year and a half. Then I ended the band to focus on Hello Whirled. I had considered making Hello Whirled a band at some point, but found that the pros of doing it all myself outweighed the cons.

    Anyway...

in between time and the fading sign no one walks here but observes from over there you know the zone under the right stars in the wronger sky you never questioned why we had options before symbols painted over nature's door underground they hear the cannons roar a place to fight demand with supply everywhere but none around to share observe from everyone you'll never understand on the beaches of life under the sand of space the lines chase the dots a mimicking car chase they say it imitates if not envelopes a watercolor sky would prove a statement...neither right or wrong we had oceans before water under the rocky floor the trees had spaces between fires until they swept the shore history will never hold responsible the names and addresses plainer text could not help that you'll never understand they'll say it's your time so they have a chance to hide between the margins of the shadows and the growing dividing lines can never say they're heroes paint another picture they'll always look the same

Trip Over 03:12
prepared for the landing, to make your conjecture traveling throughout your high architecture spotless and clean in a dirty mind singled out and burned in a cloudless sky the upper hand is yours until you start acting sure long time wanting to make you understand one more night to play your folding hand dragging out til your speech can't get any slower another landmine for you to trip over masked for approval, dashing behind the lie painted over the mirror that hides your color-code design carefully approached and illustrated deceit the same four sentences you'll always repeat I'll gladly step down but your only prize is a broken crown long time wanting to take your breath away one more night to take back everything you say escalating til your platform can't drop any lower watch you draw the dotted line that you'll trip over

I deny the cooler sight warmer lows for softer highs mantle castle taking ground gored angels embrace the skies all hail the ugliest rainbow all right, we're just about to go I rely on holy signs halos snapped in half to bleed ice devil between my toes plastic glass beneath my feet view my insides canvas cast on naked arm make yourself at home at home

called the current number lights up every head delicate like a flower but every thought is dead the wait takes forever anything to change displacing star crossed lovers or a violent rearrange clock hands move every hour everything else here remains nothing makes a difference nothing to ease the pain a film in early color rising rising rise every script cold, manufactured but engineered every surprise and every change is granted every single time single wish for this recursion singled out for me to die and life repeats itself...

Excess Jane 01:21
last night I got a call from a voice I couldn't place she spoke like she knew me but I couldn't match a face how long did I wait to start today? down the chain with Excess Jane today I found a note slipped under my front door claimed familiarity but I'd never seen those words before sheltered inside while I wait out the rain down the chain with Excess Jane how long can I do the same? down the chain with Excess Jane

Replace 03:19
they'll replace your eyes with culture - as defined by everything well stocked on the store shelves - on sale sign discounts for the market victories - loved first sight entertaining research vessels - to consume the right way picturesque dreams printed and distributed allocated equally for the perfect chance to find traveling down the aisles for false adventure around in a loop til you're ready to buy you're a number to them goals and quotas, checkered flag, you're racing they'll replace your eyes with culture placed into machinery, construct order they'll infect your mind with color monochrome closed circuit cashier once-over they'll switch the light to make it darker satisfy the youth and make them older at once it's settled now it's in disorder it's a new revolution, and it can't go slow it's all contaminated free thought lacerated they'll replace your eyes...with culture

Fires Across 05:30
there is no shorter line there is no better place there is no finer time there is no great escape there is no way to ground me there is no world around me there is another day not all will remain lost there is another bridge but as I spread my fires across it will not stand for long years of knowing gone I'm not forgiving now I won't lay a hand but I want you to know I'm not turning back now just know where I stand as I stick to my path and go it fires across the coastlines or down the street reapproach my designs and oppose my fleet there is no shorter line there is no better place there is no finer time there is no great escape there is no world around me

Screening 04:20
we brought you in for screening test every limb and bone we brought you in for reading observe every page and tome we want to know all about you but that would never get past you so we took some steps and found you now we're learning everything about you everything you love has been defaced everything you own has been replaced everything you know has been erased everything you loathe was left unchanged you're safe with us in our nurturing arms don't ever leave us or you'll sleep with the worms we've based every move around you around you striving for a great change improve you around you everything you know has been defaced everything you own has been replaced and the ones you love have been erased they're not conducive for great change

there in the burning building the north star hiding losing all hot momentum enter the new cold resistance it's fighting loudly caught off guard and you turned around to watch it all go down ice sky bearing the winter angels calling us hither above what's frozen over to a northern end peace be with the popular staging all united in modular framing visions separated but as it does appear the old horizons grow unclear morals still there raising fear I'm so glad you're here

train tracks on the moon painted runes on the sky face the colored night in your own hands watercolored eyedrops dripping down to open up the island bless the children ring in the new tide new tide ride little footsteps toward the flaming altar circles and squares of people singing making up the words on the dirt spot you'd think it so out of your head embracing the ride embracing the rain and slide island they speak their dreams into tomes they write with only words stored in somebody's ivory stream inside the ice machine saved for summer melting over ice an hour passes like a day sometimes there's just nothing else to say give yourself a good reason to stay moving yourself out of everybody else's way change embraced for the golden ride ringing in the aging tide I know it's safer out there taken by the rain consumed by the ocean island ride

Never Asked 04:59
saw you driving as I walked home I hoped it wasn't really you my heart felt like a stone dragging the rest of me down so you wouldn't see through you'll always be my angel you'll always be the same you'll always be my angel inside this tortured brain where we never changed messing around I stop and hope you'll fade away lost between the threads of time and it gets to be a similar obsession underneath the dotted line why'd you have to be my angel? you never asked me to why'd you have to be my angel? I never listened to why you couldn't be my notebooks and album covers scattered archived poorly over years if I could feel a bit more strongly about it there'd probably be faded tears you'll always be my angel in only meaningless ways you know you're not my angel and if that's the way it stays we'll all be seeing better days
