lives lived out of earshot it’s not like time forgot what goes in on those houses watch them board their car are they traveling near or far what goes on in those houses? what goes on in those houses? never to be shown to be known
2.
No More 3AM 02:32
sleep deprivation cycles of eyes tossing and turning thinking of you or I’ll just sit looking for nothing the clocks hit 3 and I have nothing to do bored and hopeless can’t even talk could take a leak but I can barely walk will I fall asleep? will it be that deep? does it matter anymore at all? post-pavement landing wake up in a bed of sweat nails scratched up like a wild eye like a wild train with no line to the brakes I’ll say I’m done forever I’ll say enough forever I’ll say these lies
3.
whisper mirror asks where you’ve been wandering at night it’s getting lonely all the same it’s wondering if you’ve been just as lonely or if you’re leading on a little game crying in the bathroom isn’t cutting it it’s jealous of the new leaf paper towels of the dirt that it may never clean again because you’d rather spend your evenings with the owls it just doesn’t get it whisper mirror breaks in two hands painted in stark carnation your incantation melting its selfish art

had a customer who was clearly high he bought two frozen pizzas someone who vaguely looked like Ethan came to my lane with only a pint or whatever of Halo Top also had a Redbox DVD weird to think someone would use ShopRite to fuel their one-man movie night someone came to my lane with a bag of groceries as if he had already checked out I froze for what felt like 15 seconds until he said “how’s it going?” I asked what he wanted and he said that self-checkout wasn’t working I understood and rang up his groceries but god DAMN that was a tough silence had another whose one item slipped under the belt we had to take the belt apart a bit to retrieve it

couldn’t ignore the growing sirens couldn’t ignore the burning trees couldn’t stand by and watch the sky end couldn’t let anything be and yet it’ll all be whether or not I do anything because I don’t matter much in the long run maybe for a little fun but the battles aren’t mine to fight

Murmur 04:03
what’s the time again? where’s the line drawn again? in the sands of time following the fall we built this wall so we couldn’t find you was it too tall? ‘cause now we’ve lost you a tale as old as time itself or maybe a little more we found a crying body losing blood along the shore took her in and pumped out the saltwater got her back in a few days but with depths that deep was she too far gone to stay awake? with depths that deep was it too much for this maid to take? the rain brought you in and let you sleep miles above the darkest deep letting you breathe for the first time above the surface on warm summer sand and you got up with your long blue hair and everyone began to stare at this mermaid something from the sea and suddenly you looked at me that's when everything else turned blue and the only thing i could see was you and we started floating that's when everything went black when i couldn't really look back and you made sure i'd be going with you i’m so sorry about last night pulling the cables in a water fight i'm sorry i tried to hurt you is there time to make this right? what happened to all the light? please don't make me drown tonight

under soaked umbrellas wedding bells ring tired and regretful but they’ll still dance and sing forced by no one but rushed in and with no objections wedding bells ring was this too fast, they pondered during speeches are we really in love or just starving leeches pray for patience hope for heart stand for something, anything as the wedding band sings stand for something as wedding bells ring

mind meets up other seas to aid the sailors on their quest but they’re only mostly there dye apply looking green seems fine in the mirror but it’s only mostly there “popped a flat, I need a spare” I’m on my way but I’m only mostly there "where are you? do you really care?" I swear I do but I'm only mostly there where? only mostly there house on fire fighters on the way with the hose they need to save the day but they’re only mostly there dye apply looking green you’ll second guess until it’s set but it looks good in your hair I guess you’re fully there
10.
Case Closed 03:22
the missing hole next to the car the broken hydrant pouring the dead man weeping fresh tears it’s getting pretty boring don’t know, should go case closed, case closed rainbows won’t show case closed, case closed old road, old snow won’t mow, won’t blow case closed, case closed case closed, case closed another young blonde with a cigarette and an icy glass full of regret with the gun in her lap to forfeit the game it all starts to feel the same the doors to justice closing it’s just us closing the doors
11.
Burn Out 01:53
who am I? Susan what are you looking at? what’s all around you? do the fractals surround you? do you poke at the blinking eye? does it provoke you to cry? does it make you question everything? “who am I?” Susan to first hell and back on a course without a track lying on your broken back first leap for mankind climbing the walls overlooking beauty barreling over the falls breaking up in half fawning at the sky “who am I?”
12.
Board Room 02:07
what’s the big idea? what’s the big game? what’s the big number on the board deciding our fate? what’s the big success story? what’s the big shame? what’s the big budget being spent on to decorate our names? our precious names what are the answers, boss? are we still around? is the project going to save us then burn us to the ground?
13.
sent for the sentinel sorted out the laws and dues held against me by the boat docked west thought me no more than a pest and I suppose he was right spend another night alone in the bar on Fremont it’s just that kind of night
14.
Avalanche 04:41
found us run around deep into the mountain climbing higher and higher feeling ever so alive but then the rocks came down through the mountain town we sold our plans and descended to the ground it felt wrong rolling through the trees stricken with disease in the chemical air there was no safe way for sure found an enclave a hill off the beating path where the heart almost saved us til it ran out of gas dancing through the peaks we don’t care as if our problems aren’t there slopes and valleys to scale at the end of the rope what do we lose if we fail? what does it mean when the avalanche stops and we’re still curled up in a ball? do the shadows deceive? is the message received? is it a sigh of relief or tears of grief?

about

All guitars and basses run through a Fender Rumble 25. Susan Denberg is sort of on "Burn Out", and is defnitely on this album cover.
