take another look back
everyone has something to say about you
take another look back
your life is on the line and it’s out of your control
in the absence of something
they’ve decided you’re worth nothing to them
“find a circle of your own”
they locked the gate just to keep you away
“you’re not real”
what the fuck is that supposed to mean
gatekeeping won’t solve shit
are you scared of who I am
all because I never fucked
and somehow I’m not worth anywhere
hand me a bucket
I don’t need this shit
you can lie all you want but we’re here to stay
no reactionary tales will make us go away

Golden Whisper

ignore the conversations
playing out in your head
it's better that I stay here
so you wouldn't have to find me dead
first to plant
last to grow
later bloomers
never know
the hardships of the first born
the magic of the golden door
the carcass on the floor
it’s talking to me
it has words, it’s spoken before
the trees have answers
so why won’t you listen
their haunted spirits
throw sand in your eye
and you wake up

teach what we know
don’t let the imperfections show
yearning and learning for more
children sit closer
to the door
the whiteboard
smeared with colored ink
the blackboard
smeared with colored chalk

In Their Honor

we made our beds
and crawled into the cave
through mild winters
and sweltering days
in their honor
I set up camp for them
surely they’ll be back
if only I knew when
in their honor
I light another fire
it’s not real
but to me it brings the choir
that sings me lullabies
that makes me forget you
that plants the mattress down
that tucks me in
and maybe I won’t dream about you
where you wake up
home will rise
but maybe I won’t
be the surprise
you were hoping for
in your honor I sleep too late

End Of Something

oh its coming down
hot expanding markets in a pool of electric life
to the touch we burn and submit
leaving all our lives worth loving
with electric rain and pink wind guiding
to the touch we burn
to the touch we learn
atop the burning buildings we sleep on
we dream on, we dream on
of a pinker wind to save us
oh its coming down
from the dreams we hope to bear
oh its coming down

Pink Diamond

drilled yourself a hole to my heart
jammed your hand in and watched the motor start
took me through every screwy twist and turn
walked to the torchlight and let it all burn
made me wait forever to meet again
held my hand and called me a real friend
aches and pains through summer days that may not heal
will take me to remind myself that it’s all real
not too much to handle
not too much to take
to fake
diamond I’m reminded of the breezy nights
the candles warming, ovens on, the bloody fights
and I miss you

Untied

what do they say behind my back
are they planning a new attack
can i trust the people we call united
or so i thought
or so i tried
leave the ground untied
how do i know we’re all in good hands
envisioning prophecies in distant lands
hopefully we stand locked in arms united
or so i thought
or so i tried
left the shoes untied
and it’s something
for sure
leaving all my decency next to the door
sometimes
all the time
I bet I’m just overthinking it
how do they really look at me
a crowd that I’m desperately trying to part of be
anxiously waiting for the end united
or so i thought
or so i tried
left the room untied

Dancing On The Truth
03:18
|
|
||
we’re here for reactions
press and repeat
whatever hits the street
whatever
minor crisis, major wounds
they’ll be home soon
what’s the point
if everyone else is wrong
and the burden sits on one
newspaper ballerina dancing on the truth
is that what the people need
disembodied talking heads
on our screens
is that what we need
you can say anything
they’ll just throw it away
you can say anything
they’ll say yesterday

Around The Neon Sun
08:22
|

PART ONE
she walked down the street
her arms in stitches
broken hearts meant broken hands
crying into pools of blood
slowly dying
the sun sets over her
pain and lying
her head graces the grass
green dyed red
as she heard the shattered glass
daylight brings its healing spell
or at least it wipes away the tears
she wakes up to the singing animals in her head
that wash away her fears
but they’re still here
the sun can only do so much
she knows as much
and she does as such
PART TWO
the lion’s eye stares her down
and shakes her up and gets her on her feet
nose off the ground
back in the right shape
but not in the right place
back and forth between the bars and hotels
and ringing bells that she never saw
but she heard all the way
you’d never hear her say it
but she knew they were there
forcing the wind to blow through her hair
she walked for a while
looking for one single establishment
where she could afford to even walk inside
the awnings kept her warm from the rain
PART THREE
crawled to an outpost
distant from somewhere
not much to see
but it’s better than here
at least they had water
she barely got up
to rehydrate her body cup
out on the town
they think she’s fine
but she knows deep down it’s wrong
they live drone lives
preset purpose
and she’s supposed to sing the same song
she sat on a bench
in the middle of an empty park
and wondered where things went wrong
she took off her jacket
much too warm for that
or maybe it’s just her
it no longer matters
hearing it shatter
she closed her eyes
and looked up for hope
circling with diamond rope
around the neon sun
dazed but no longer confused
she stood up from the bench
brushed the pollen off her shorts
and started moving
she didn’t know where but it looked greener on that side
PART FOUR
new cabin in the woods
she may not be happy but at least it’s a change of scenery
surrounded by greenery
maybe there’s hope
